Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

We often hear about this disorder in relation to soldiers or those who have been caught up in violent or life-threatening situations.

PTSD can affect anyone who has experienced a threat to their life or been the subject of violence, assaults, natural disasters, robberies, accidents or personal tragedy.

There are physical reactions, thought patterns and revivification (actually seeing, hearing and re experiencing the trauma) as well as emotional symptoms associated with PTSD.

Some of the experiences of PTSD

  1. Frequent sometimes constant thoughts about the trauma
  2. Reliving the memories of the trauma
  3. Feeling startled, heightened reactions or numb feelings
  4. Frequently and easily startled
  5. Feeling and acting detached from people, loved ones, life, the rest of the world
  6. Feeling, alone, misunderstood, hopeless
  7. Sleep problems and disorders. Night terrors, difficulty getting to sleep or excess sleeping

Finding help with PTSD...

post traumatic stress disorder These symptoms result from patterns of thinking about the trauma. The effects of constantly and frequently thinking about the trauma affect the physical body, the emotions and the mind. It becomes so ingrained it seems that nothing can help, perpetuating the cycle of hopelessness, feelings of exhaustion and distress.

NLP and Hypnotherapy & Neuro Semantics achieve good, effective results. There is no need to relive past painful experiences. Those methods of revisiting painful trauma perpetuate the distressing patterns of thought. The techniques we use do not dwell on the past or revive the triggering events.

Our positive modalities target the unconscious mind, releasing habitual thought patterns which seem to loop back on themselves. You get the inner shifts in the way you think and this reflects in the way you feel. As you begin to think more clearly you feel more grounded, more centred and again enjoy your peace of mind.

How long will it take?

The number of sessions required will vary depending on your individual circumstances. On average, clients attend three to four sessions depending on the severity of the condition.
